“Whatever you are doing, keep it up!” Those were the words of my rheumatologist 20+ years ago after being diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder called ‘ankylosing spondylitis.’ X-rays revealed my spine to be 100% fused, with pain and stiffness.

I defied the doomsday diagnoses given by an orthopedist 35 years ago, “Be prepared to be disabled and in a wheelchair by the time you are in your forties!”

To that I replied, ‘NO I won't! So, in keeping with my rheumatologist’, I did what he recommended. I stayed mobile and kept moving! I am now 74 and worked full time, in very physically demanding job—and retired in my 70th year.

The awful prophecy did not come to pass, as the Dr. Grim said. I never made plans for anything but happiness and a fulfilled life—and that is what has come to pass!

I love retirement, except I found a new career which is writing! I have added Author to my nursing career. More below.

Stop looking for validation and start looking within. Believe in yourself and great things will happen.

Thank you for reading my blog “… not Donna Reed” and sharing your story
I do remember my Mom and her friends in their "house dresses" but they ditched them as soon as pants became acceptable. Meat, potatoes and a frozen veggie were dinner staples along with the Pizzeria owned by a local family from Sicily.
We had our first Big Mac in 1970 and sadly like them better than our home cooked burgers. Must have been that addictive "secret sauce"
Perfection as defined by others may not be possible, but we can all strive to become a more perfect version of ourselves.

A little sinus congestion so laying low. Not feeling bad, just using my decongestant and it’s helping.

Doesn't look like sunshine today. Spoiled by the last several days!

I HOPE today is a better day for you, my dear!

    Blessings and hugs.
