Hi,
I'm 48, and with a BMI of 31.4, I am solidly in the obese range. Make no mistake, it's not because I am actually more muscular or physically fit than the average person. It's becaause I eat enough fot two people and exercise enough for 1/2 a person.
I have decided that at my age, being obese, having hypertension, and kidney disease, I need to do something positive, or I won't live to see my youngest children graduate from College.

I am sick and tired of being sick and tired! I want to be able to go up a flight of stairs and not get winded. I want to be able to have the energy to play catch with my kids and help them wrestle and go hunting.
So, as of 2/7/2012, I have decided to take control of my life and I hope that Sparkpeople can help me do it. I have tried numerous times and had some modicum of success, but for some reason have given up. I am now firmly committed to making permanent, positive change to my eating and exercise habits. So far, I have only been tracking my food intake, but as of today, I am starting to add fitness to the goal.
