I am a 78 year old retired female residing in Central Florida. I was born and raised in Florida as were parents, which makes me a rarity, or some people say that...I did venture out of state in my late teens and early twenties, returned in very early thirties. That was when I couldn't take NY grey skies and cold winters any longer.

I was born and raised in Florida as were parents, which makes me a rarity, or some people say that...I did venture out of state in my late teens and early twenties, returned in very early thirties. That was when I couldn't take NY grey skies and cold winters any longer.

My Goals:
to continue my workouts (currently 5 days a week at the gym, 8 classes and water walking),continue my weekly WW workshops and daily SparkPeople activity.
My Program:
My doctor put my on a low carb diet over a year ago (when I joined SparkPeople) which finally allowed me to remake goal. I struggled with low thyroid and hormone balance....thankfully, I am now in balance! So, my plan is to continue doing what I am doing and keep a close monitor on my health.
Personal Information:
My entire adult working career was spent in the insurance industry, the last 25 in the health insurance industry from the company side. This gives me a different perspective than most people towards the whole medical arena. I am more interested in treating the cause of a problem rather than taking a lot of pills. I am fortunate that my only prescription is my thyroid meds. Hopefully, with diet and exercise I will keep it that way.
Other Information:
Confession, I am a gym rat, always have been. I can now work out in the morning rather than trying to get there after a long day at work. Or, if I was traveling, try to fit it in after a long call of meetings! Happily, I love working out and the great classes at my gym. The Olympic size pool has a great shallow land I can walk in, which my feet really appreciate.
