At a wedding in Dec 09. I felt so cute, but I HATE the pictures. I'm over that feeling.

Three years ago I used spark and lost about 40 pounds. I kept it off for a year or so and then slowly started gaining again. It's taken some time, but I'm looking at myself and not liking where I am again, so I'm recommitting to get back where I want to be.

Weight Loss Story

I've been overweight since I was in middle school. Sometimes it has not been as bad as others.

The semester I graduated college and the few months after that I lost weight and was more active and felt wonderful. Then I got a desk job and the weight snuck back on. After a year I went back to school and actually weighed myself and was quite disappointed (and shocked) to see I had gained back everything I had lost plus a little more.

I tried to lose weight that first year of graduate school and did lose about ten pounds, but it seemed like I could never get past that point.

Then after finals I was hospitalized with a DVT (or blood clot) in my leg. It stretched all the way down my leg and the pain kept me less active than I would have liked. I was quite upset to learn at one of my check ups I had gained back ALL the weight I had lost in a year in just a couple of months.

So I've joined Spark. And in the first three months since I joined, I lost twenty pounds and eight inches off my hips and waist. I'm feeling better and am very excited that I'm in the best shape I've been in in years. Of course, I'm looking forward to being in even better shape soon!

Update - 1/1/2009
I've gained weight back. Not all of it. But enough that I'm struggling to not be upset about it. Still, I'm working at it and I'm going to lose it again, plus more. This is it, this is the year. No more halfway. No more almost. I think I've forgotten that losing, that getting healthy is a struggle. But it's a worthwhile struggle.

2009 Mantras:
**I can do this. I will do this. I am doing this.**
**Work hard. Get fit. Have fun.**

Update 6/21/09
One month until my 3rd year anniversary with Spark. I never thought at this point in time I'd not only still be struggling to see my goal weight, but that I would have gained back over 20 pounds of what I originally lost. I want to do this. I need to do this. I have to figure out why it's so hard right now and just fight through it.

Update 1/1/10
Wow. 2009 was not the year, which is disappointing. But I did reach a really big goal: I ran my first 5K ever. I'll be running more in 2010 and striving to look better and feel better - For me!

Update 2/23/10
January and the beginning of Feb. was so-so. I worked out some, but I ate so many sweets! And so much pizza! For Lent I have given up both - plus meat! But now I'm excited because Chris is working out WITH me and also trying to lose weight. We're doing P90 and I'm looking forward to both of us feeling so much better in just a couple of months!
