Introduction Text "Learning to live in the present moment is part of the path of joy." (Sarah Ban Breathnach) Years ago it was all about turning 40 and not letting it bring me down, but to be empowered by it. Well.... it didn't get me down, but I also didn't feel like I had it going on either. This year there are going to be some serious changes. For years, I've put myself in a box and went by strict rules on everything, but I'm not good with rules. I like doing my own thing and thinking outside the box. This year I'm not only putting myself back on my list, but I'm at the top. I have been on a battle with myself because of my weight. This has been going on for years and the weight has been winning majority of the time. No one is at fault for it, but me. I've allowed myself to rely on magic pills, diet fads and down right skipping meals to sabotage me. Of course none of those really work only allow a quick fix for a few weeks. I have no excuses because it's been all me. For many years the pounds have added on to where I'm at now over 200lbs, which is a hard pill to swallow being that I once was 110lbs, as an adult. This extra weight doesn't make me look or feel good, but does that make me lose the weight? Nope! Type 2 diabetes runs on both sides of my family, including my own Mom. My blood sugar level is around 120 which is not good, but that hasn't really scared me enough to drop the pounds. Well, maybe a few pounds here and there. What will actually do it for me? A doctor's visit has done it. The weight, type 2 diabetes and other small healthy problems combined could be a killer problem waiting to blow up. I can't continue to look the other way and kid myself into thinking I'm okay this way, I'm not. So, I'm turning over a new leaf and vowing that from this day on I Paula will take care of myself and lose not only the weight, but become a healthy me. 2013 is all about a new journey and discoveries about myself. I'm cooking healthy using all the different cookbooks and recipes that I have and re-vamping them into a healthier recipe. I love cooking and that means changing what I use. I found a great cookbook called "Great Good Food" by Julee Rosso that is low-fat cooking. My Workout routine will consist of 5 days a week and at least 45 minutes each time.
