I am DUXGRL1! I'm 62 and hoping that I am on my FINAL weight loss journey after a long and illustrious dieting career going back to when I was 14 years old! This latest journey began right after the holidays in December 2010, and despite hearing everywhere that women my age can't lose weight (and believing it for a long time!) as of June 2017, I lost 83 lbs and reached my final goal weight of 150, and I have maintained it within 5 lbs for a year! Perhaps the most important thing I did was to decide that I did not care how long it took me to do this, that I was going to be in it for the long haul. Hey, the time is going to pass anyway, right? I joined sparkpeople.com in January 2011, and haven't come close to taking full advantage of it, but one of the things that I have done was to draw inspiration from your stories, and now it is time to put myself out there with the rest of you in hopes of keeping myself motivated and also hoping to provide motivation for other people who need it.

My Goals:
Long term:

To reach 165 lbs for the first time in many years, and then decide whether it is realistic to maintain that or try to lose some more.

To establish food and exercise habits that I can live with for the rest of my life and maintain a healthy weight.

To get a handle on my emotional eating.


8/5/11: 205 lbs. No longer obese!

10/29/11: 198 lbs.ONEDERLAND...for the first time in 7 or 8 years!

2/4/12: Reach 40 lb weight loss (193)

3/31/12: Get into the 180s (189)

6/30/12: Reach 50 lb weight loss (183 is 50 lbs...I reached 181!)
Note: Gained 4 lbs, as of 8/4/12, so now have to do this AGAIN!

9/1/12: Get back to 50 lb loss again. (181 lbs...52 lbs again)

10/1/12: Get into 170s
(179 lbs) Back to 180 11/3/12 :(
12/1/12: 178
4/27/13: 180 :(
5/25/13: 178 :)

10/24/15: Reach 60 lb weight loss AND NORMAL (NOT OVERWEIGHT) BMI: 173 lbs

3/12/16: Goal!
8/24/16: Got into 150s!

My Program:
1. I usually weigh myself only once a month.

2. I am not doing anything that I can't live with long term. No forbidden foods.

3. Vary number of calories so my body doesn�t plateau.

4. 3 meals and 2 snacks daily. (sometimes more!) Mostly healthy, Protein with every meal.

5. Food diary every day with calories so I can track what I eat. I keep it on paper�I am old school about that!

6. I have exercised every single day from 2011 until NOW for at least 30 minutes, 60 minutes on weekends and days off. Tracked on paper and the past several months, on sparkpeople.

7. 72 oz water a day...2 big Nalgene bottles. (I do not ALWAYS make it, tho!)

8. I wouldn�t be without my fitbit! http://www.fitbit.com/

9. 10000 steps or more a day!

10. I read weight loss blogs to motivate me, including this one, of course!

    Thank you for taking time to read, and leave thoughtful comments on, my past few blogs. I am just like you in that my biggest struggles with binging/compulsive eating are tied to fatigue, whether it be emotional, or physical, or spiritual, or a combination thereof. I have been good at keeping my vow to myself to lessen the exhausting things I sign up for. As a result, I have felt some relief from binging and compulsive eating. I am also recommitted to the discomfort necessary to make changes. I hope you are finding some periods of rest and balance. I know you work very hard. Take care!
