I started out 2009 like I start every new year: depressed. Mainly because of the darkness of the days but something I have been battling with in my adult life. I knew I wanted to lose weight and then my 14 year old daughter (now 15) discovered teen sparkpeople and asked me if she could join. When I looked it over I said yes and I signed up too. It was two weeks into January and I slowly began learning the site. I began slowly increasing my activities and then committed to exercise 4 to 6 days a week. What really made a difference for me was tracking my food intake. It's like magic for me. When I am conscious of what I'm eating it makes all the difference. I strive to stay within my calorie range. I don't know what it is but when I see it in black and white and I know I have to write it down I commit. I lost 20 lbs. in about 4 1/2 months after I started tracking my food and was consistent with exercise.

Then, when summer came I didn't go to the gym as often but still went at least 1 to 2 times a week. I started maintaining. Not what I wanted to do but at least I wasn't gaining. I thought things would get better once the kids were back in school. Nope. I guess I lost my motivation because although maintaining I was not improving. Then tracking fell by the way side but I was still trying to be conscious of my food choices and getting some weekly exercise.

Once I bought the Halloween candy my weight was creeping up. Now, mid November I find myself with a 10 lb. gain that feels like 100. I am upset at myself.

I've decided that today would be the day to start tracking again. I did - I went over on calories by about 200 but I got my cardio. Here I am not starting over but continuing forward. I refuse to give up on myself.

Hi Elsa - thank you for the goodie and for stopping by my page. Yeah, I'm kind of stuck right now and I had a HORRIBLE lunch so that didn't help at all. Still hanging in there though. GREAT job on the 20 lbs!!!!

    Hey Elsa!!!

I'm doing ok. Trying to keep up with things. My oldest one just had a little surgery. I starting a job on May 18 and was going around checking out daycares and things like that. Making sure everything is set up for both my guys. The little one will be going full time and my oldest will be going before and after school. Trying to adjust to the fact that I won't be home for them. But dad will be picking up afternoon shift and I'll be doing the drop off. Other than that, trying really hard to keep on track. How have you been? It looks like you're doing great. Keep up the good work. Talk 2 u soon.
