2004 was The Year of Movement. I started with yoga, and went back to swimming. In 2011 I added twice weekly Pilates sessions to my routine. In the past five years I have continued with exercising, and truly enjoy it! I started tracking my food when I signed up for Spark People in Dec of 07. As of Feb 2012 I have lost 131 pounds. This year my goal is to lose 40 pounds. I am more active now than I've been for years.

My Goals:
I am trying to get 8 hours of sleep-which is continues to be strangely challenging!
My Program:
I use the Fitness tracking page and weigh or measure and log all my food on the Nutrtion tracker. I practice yoga once a week, Pilates twice a week, and swim at least four times a week.
Personal Information:
I was born in Wisconsin. I have lived in SF, CA for the past 16 years. I am 50 years old, and work as a sign language interpreter, coordinator and educator. I travel nationally to teach continuing education courses to interpreters. I recently graduated with my MA in Art Therapy Psychology and am earning my intern hours so I can sit for the license exams. I am "sparking" with my partner of 13 years. We love traveling to National Parks.
Other Information:
I often get myself out to door and to the gym by remembering how good I feel during and after I exercise. (This requires really 'feeling into' my body after working out, and making mental notes about the sensations and emotions I am having.) I try to remind myself about the paradox in exercising--that if I'm tired, I'll actually have MORE energy if i workout. If I am particularly not interested in going, I tell myself to just go to the gym, and if once I get there I still don't feel up for it, I don't have to go in. I've never turned around!
