One day at a time sweet Jesus
That's all I'm asking from you.
Just give me the strength
To do everyday what I have to do.
Yesterday's gone sweet Jesus
And tomorrow may never be mine.
Lord help me today, show me the way
One day at a time.

I just remembered this old song tonight and realize how appropriate it is.

Doing it one day at a time.

It's the end of the year and the end of a "fat chapter" in my life. God willing, I will never go back again!

New Years Eve finds me down about 95 pounds from last year. One year ago tonight I got ready and drove to meet some old, dear friends for a night of fun. I had spent time that day trying to figure out what to wear. I had probabaly gained 5-10 pounds since I last saw my friends and I wanted to look nice. I brought several new shirts home from Target and hated how every one of them looked. I think I wore something old that at least fit.
Fast forward to early December 2008: I meet the same group of friends for the first time since last year and they all don't recognize me! This time I wear a form fitting top that shows that, while I've lost alot of cleavage (one friend actually comments on that!), I've also lost my back fat! And I HATED my back fat!

I have met the most wonderful people here. We're all struggling with the same thing. Some have more to lose than others, but no one is losing weight without putting forth a super-human amount of effort. I didn't quite get to be Valerie Bertinelli this year. I wanted to start 2009 and be able to say that I didn't need to make a weight loss resolution . But at least this year the loss needs to be small and the emphasis needs to be on maintaining and good health. I am still in awe and almost find it hard to believe that I've come this far. I never would or could have imagined this a year ago.

So, God bless each one of you and may this new year be the year we finish what we started.

Don't give up, don't give in!

This is my favorite quote, borrowed from another Sparker:
Being fat is hard
Being fit is hard
Choose your hard

(pretty much says it all, doesn't it?)

3. To be at 168 by 8/29 (9/5 at the latest) **Goal met 8-13-08.

6.. Revised final goal: I got down to 140.5 (that's 99.5 lbs lost!) and then started gaining weight (boo, hiss). I realized that while I love how tiny my body is at that weight it leaves me with sagging skin. Not attractive on my butt! Andit makes my face look to drawn. So my final goal is to get back to 145-150. I'm not worried about weight anymore, I just want to be able to fit comfortably in a size 8!

My Program:
Counting calories and exercise is what works best for me.
My recumbant bicycle is my exercise of choice.
Trying to get in about 3 1/2-4 hours per week.
Also, experimenting with DVDS, I've expanded my Firm collecting and I'll be doing more of those in the New Year. They kick my kiester but they get results!

My name is Sheryl, I live in Michigan, I'm 44 years old and I'm an X-ray Technologist.
