I have struggled my entire life with weight issues. It started early and just got progressively worse over the years. I lost the weight on several occasions only to eventually gain it all back and more. I call it the "Oprah Syndrome" so I guess I'm in good company! Anyway, here I am all these years later. I am determined however to keep this issue under control for once and for all.

I started Weight Watchers in November 2007. At that time, I told myself I would attend for at least two years no matter what..., gain or lose. The weight loss was ssssssslow averaging only 3 or so pounds a month but it eventually added up to 80+ pounds off. Along the way I found Spark People and I am so happy I did. It has taken my fitness in particular to a whole new level and provides a dose of daily motivation that I need. I'm exercising more and paying much more attention to my nutrition. The articles are so positive and the community is fabulous. I feel like I finally have tools in hand to be successful for the long term.

Thanks for visiting my page and feel free to stop by anytime. Let's ROCK ~ Spark on! ~

My Goals:
Joined Weight Watchers in Nov 2007. It's all about the accountability for me. Reached initial BMI goal in June 2009 and I'm now considered a lifetime member. Still would like to lose a few more pounds; but I'm happy to at least be off the roller coaster!

My Program:
I started with the Weight Watchers Program. On this plan nothing is really off limits. I try to avoid foods that are "triggers" and a problem for me. Everyone has certain foods that they just can't handle sensibly. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE as they will make you feel like a failure when you lose control. I have found the Beck Diet Solution (Pink Book) to be very helpful for maintenance. It has really helped me to think more like a "thin" person. My eating plan is now Low Carb avoiding processed foods. This is working well for me and after reading Dr. Jason Fung's Book "The Obesity Code" I understand so much more about how my body and metabolism works. The lies we have been told by so called "experts" over the past 50 years are just galling! I try and walk daily 3-5 miles and once a month do a half marathon (13.1 miles) Currently, my streak participating in at least one half marathon every month is more than 5 years. Yip!

Work-out Regime

At the gym for 45-60 minutes 5 days

    HI Rhonda,
Thanks for your comment on my blog. One degree or walking that extra mile can make a world of difference. Even with each other...reaching out a hand to help someone ...you never know how you might have positively affected someone just when they needed it most.
Have an awesome weekend and crank it up just one degree.

HI Rhonda...about the dragon boat thing. I have been to Portland to see the race site but haven't raced there. Your races have a little twist to them where someone at the front lying on the dragon tries to catch a ring. My racing is just all out time racing. I steer the boat so a lot depends on the job I do but I have been doing it 10 years now so I am probably the oldest female, longest tenure, steerer in BC. My Master's team won the BC games gold medal last year. This is really a great team sport and something you can do until you're 100.
Before I retired I was in loans, investments and mortgages on a personal level so we have something in common there. Finance is interesting!
    Have a wonderful day. Marlies
