Hello and welcome to my spark page.

I am really looking forward to starting the 5% Summer challenge. I have been doing these challenges with the SUDS team since 2013. I love these challenges as they help to keep me motivated and doing my best to stay on track. It has not always been easy to keep going, but doing something is better than nothing.

I have had my share of set backs and I have tried very hard to not get discouraged but to keep on going. I am a care giver for my husband as he is a 100% disabled vet, who served 27 years in the Navy. He is still mobile but falls and I don't leave him for any longer than I have to. I am a 5 year Breast Cancer survivor. The treatments take a toll on your body and takes a while to get over. The meds I take to help keep the cancer from returning makes you gain weight, affects your joints and bones and just make you feel yucky at times. My oncologist tells me to work through it and don't give in to it. I am trying very hard to do just that. I saw my oncologist for my 6 month check up and I am still in remission and on July 1st of this year I will see him again and the will do tests on my tumor to see how aggressive it is. This will determine if I will stay on meds for another 5 years. God has been good to me and that is one reason, if not most important, I keep going and don't ever give up.

NEVER GIVE UP is what I try to live by. If I have a bad day I just keep going the next day. I know I can do it!!

Best of luck to my fellow DAWGIEs, old and new. WE CAN DO THIS!! Let's show the other teams what we DAWGS are made of!!

My Goals:
I hope to continue losing weight to avoid heart problems and diabetes as these are two health problems that run in my family. I am currently on a diabetic diet as I was borderline on being a diabetic. I will exercise every day and drink my water. I am participating in the 2020 5% Spummer Challenge and want to meet my goal during this challenge. I also will be fighting to keep my cancer from returning.

My Program:
I have a treadmill and an elliptical that I use at home. I also have several other exercise machines and various exercise videos I use. I use the pre-diabetic diet now and of course I use the tools available for me here at SP! I am slowly making progress and I know that one day I will reach my ultimate goal. I have dropped my A1c from 6.0 to 5.7 so I am in the normal range for not becoming diabetic.

Personal Information:
I am 68 the mother of 4 and have my 12 grandchildren and 1 great graanddaughter. My husband retired from the Navy after serving for 27 yrs. I got to live in Rota, Spain and I also got to visit Bermuda. We will be married 49 years this year. We also have our first great grandchild. She brings a lot of joy to us.

Other Information:
I live in TN and I am a retired Teacher's Asst. I worked with special needs children and I miss them terribly. I am trying to get use to not working every day and this is really a hard thing for me to get use too. I have developed some bad habits since I retired, like staying up too late and sleeping in too late. Things have got to change and get back into a regular routine.

    Sue, Your welcome.

We were at Tunica, MS on a vacation. We flew there from NY. We went there with a Harrah's Casino Junket. At the time we could fly there and stay at a nearby hotel for nothing. Now with the cost of fuel they have to charge for the flights, etc. We really enjoyed that trip. We rented a car and were able to do some sight seeing.

Thank you for your post on my sparkpage welcoming me to the team. Sounds as though we have a connection based on my name. Thanks also for the compliment on looking younger than my age.

Eleven grandchildren - wow! I'm sure they bring you much joy and happiness. Congrats on the new grandbaby. I'm looking forward to our new addition when my daughter gives birth in January.

Good luck and continued success with your move toward a healthier you.

You didn't give me a fright. I must have posted that wrong. I laughed long and hard at the visual in my head. A weeble with chicken legs. Awesome

    Hi, Susan!
I'm on meds for depression & it helps. Your doctor can see if something like that would help you.
I'm now down in NJ, watching 3 of my Grands while their parents are away for a week. School is out, & I get to be Grammy! Their ages are 10, 7 1/2, & 4. I don't get to see enough of them, so this is great!
Keep at it.... you'll get there!

Depression hurts. Make sure you get help.
I too am 56 and have grandchildren.
You need to be loving those little ones.
I noticed you only have one SparkTeam.
Try looking for a couple more teams to join.
    The people are so nice.
I will be thinking about you and I will check back from time to time.
Keep at it but don't push yourself too hard.
    Best Wishes,
