Hey girl! I was just looking through your pictures and I have to say that you need to stop beating yourself up! You are so gorgous! Everything from your eyes to your beautiful smile and beyond. The woman on the outside is nothing compared to the extraordinary woman on the inside! Love yourself for the woman who shines from the inside out and not the one who put on 6 pounds on the outside. If you are with people who only look at the beauty outside, you need to push them out of your life and find the ones who see the beaufiul Appleness inside! Cheer up girl!

I saw the first significant loss the first week of my "new life." But I think that was because my body got a shocker from the new eating and exercise and gave up the first five pounds in an attempt to make me stop. LOL! I haven't seen any great big losses since then. I sometimes see two pounds at the most since. But I have to agree with CONALD22, the scale is not always the biggest indicator. You have to look at how you feel and what you measurements are showing. For example, my weight may not go anywhere for weeks, but I can lose an inch or so despite. Plus, it is true that muscle weights more. So, the scale doesn't move, but people tell me they see more definition in my arms and legs than before and I notice that things like lifting heavy objects or hiking hills is much easier.

PCOS really is another big contributor. I would highly recommend a couple of books I've read, "A Patient's Guide to PCOS," and "PCOS Dietbook." These books really helped me see that women with PCOS really have to go about weight loss differently than other women.

So, if you are following the right eating plan and exercising like you should, the scale will show a difference in time and you should look at other factors too. Just hang in there girl. It is true what they say that anything worth doing is worth doing well and it will take time like it should. Hope this has been helpful! Later!

My philosophy is that the number on the scale is a poor indicator of the progress I am making towards a healthy body/life. For example, before Sparks I never lifted weights and had about zero muscle. Now I am lifting weights at least three times a week. So, the scale is not only reflecting fat I may be losing/gaining, but also muscle that I am gaining now that I am strength training. Therefore, it might be a good thing that I am gaining the weight because it's muscle. However, it's hard to keep that in perspective when you want to see your ticker go down. So, I have decided that I should put the scale away and try to focus on measurements that more accurately reflect my progress. For example, this weekend I would like to get a tape measure and do my measurements, which I have never done before and which more accurately reflects the fact that muscle, which is denser than fat, is replacing fat. I also use the fit of my clothes to track my progress, as well as my overall energy. For me, these are much better indicators than a number on a scale. Some days I would step on the scale, feeling peppy and loving that my clothes are now loser, and see this atrocious number glaring back at me, and it would put me in a bad mood. I think in order to stay positive and continue this journey I need to focus on how my body looks and feels, not how much it weighs. Sorry that was so long and rambling. Did I answer your question? What are your thoughts on this?
