My journey began at 200 lbs with a goal to lose a total of 70 lbs.

Initially I lost about 40 lbs. In Jan 2017, I injured my shoulder and foot in an accident leading to steroid injections, surgery and physical therapy. Recovery was slow; I regained a lot of weight and developed other health issues that further impacted my progress. In 2018, a check-up revealed that my BP and cholesterol were also dangerously high.

Determined not to live on meds, I decided to focus on lifestyle and dietary changes. Join me on my journey to health!

August 2020 Update

Returned to doctor for general exam & the results were fantastic!

Weight Loss: Down from 200 lbs to now 169 lbs
Blood Pressure: Down from 150/89 in 2019 to NOW at 132/70.
Previous Cholesterol was: Total 288 (HDL 48, LDL 197, TG 217)
Aug 2020 Cholesterol now: Total 232 (HDL 51, LDL 162, TG 96)

My Goals:
To go from 200 lbs to weigh 135 lbs. and wear size 10 again.
To avoid blood pressure and cholesterol medications.
To get strong, fit & healthy, and have more energy.


My Program:
Following old WW exchange-based diet/program. 1-2 liters water daily.
Exercise/activity 60-90 minutes/day. Strength training 3 x a week.
Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds programs
Also using SparkPeople Workout DVDs and others.

My name is Karen. I love people, sharing life experiences, and learning about different cultures and foods. Favorite foods (so far) are Italian, Mexican, Chinese,Thai and Middle Eastern. Also I am Christian - I love God and I love the Word of God - Jesus is my Savior and Lord! Spiritual influences include: Joseph Prince, Creflo Dollar, Andrew Wommack, Keith Moore, & Kenneth & Gloria Copeland. I also love animals/nature, living in the country, walking/hiking and fitness, writing, history, art. Enjoy classic, sci-fi & mystery novels.     Small habits repeated daily can go a very long way.
    For example, walking for just a mile a day may not seem much at first, but if you walked a mile every day for a year, by the end of the year you would have walked 365 miles...in ten years you would have walked 3,650 miles.
    Imagine the benefits to your body, your respiratory system, your heart, your muscles, your joints and your weight, if you were to walk just one mile a day.
