I'm 73. another years has gone by, so now I am 74,and I have decided that I am not going to focus on losing weight as much as I am going to improve my eating habits. I have asthma and am on oxygen at night and can't walk long distances, I have had 3 surgeries on my left shoulder and now have a frozen shoulder, so that shoulders makes it difficult to do a lot of kind of exercises, so I do what I can, and if I lose a couple pounds that is a bonus, not a requirement.

I am a farmers wife and engaged in as much of the farm as I can, and understand. We do have some livestock, sheep, 8 miniatures horses, and goats and right now we share the chores, me in the morning and hubby in the evening, but once field works start the chores are all my baby, and I do enjoy them.

I really don't have any big expectations, cause I am not one that likes setting goals. I just want to be as healthy as I can and enjoy life, and it doesn't mean spending hours and hours walking, running, working out in a smelly germ infested gym, I work hard on the farm and that has been the way it has been for many centuries, in my family, so I think it is good enough for me.
Honest work, and knowing I should not eat as much as I do, but it is all natural food, that means I don't eat boxed or store canned food unless it is unavoidable. If you read labels, some dogs and cats eat better than some do. If I can't pronounce it, I don't eat it.
So that said I have no goals, just honest living, and no beating myself up if I have a piece of pie.

I couldn't have done this with Ray either. And truthfully, I'd rather be "fluffy" with Ray than thinner without.

You've got your priorities straight, no worries about that.

Thank you for asking me that question. When I first tried to incorporate "real" foods again, I found I was hungrier again! So you're absolutely correct!

I ordered enough Slim-Fast and Premier High Protein shakes and my plan is to use them when the scale starts to nudge back up. If need be, I will continue using them for one meal a day for as long as necessary.

I will most likely continue my breakfast Oatmeal with all the extras I put in, like flax seed and chia seeds, etc. Then I will start making myself "normal" lunches and use a shake for dinner and try to ease into it slowly. I read that I should use dairy protein first, like yogurt and eggs, before adding meats. And it also said to be very careful and add only 3 oz of meat at first. I may use fish before meats as I had no problem with salmon or Tilapia. Thankfully I can find veggies that are average calories.

The shakes actually have some sugar & fiber in them so hopefully carbs won't be a problem. I am averaging over 130 carbs daily even now. The only problem will be my appetite. And, if I regain 3-5 lbs, I can use the Slim-Fast for a week to get back in control. At least that is my plan - only time will tell.

You know me, if it doesn't work, I will blog it and then try something else. But I feel confident that I will find a happy medium and keeping my fingers & toes crossed. Not my eyes though, it hurts to cross my eyes *grin*

    Huggers & Love,

    Wed MISSIONS

Easy: dash home, eat quick soup/salad dinner, and head off in the traffic across the bay for choir. That doesn't sound inviting, but the list of music for tonight's rehearsal makes the trip worthwhile.

I'll be lucky if I have energy to do anything when I get home. Hm. I could stop at Trader Joe's if I'm up to it. I always have a grocery list for there. I do wish one were a little closer. I'll see how I feel. So far I'm having a pretty good day. Speaking of carbs...the cafeteria was serving their holiday feast meal today, so of course I had to go down and enjoy it, cherry cobbler and all. MORE carbs!
