You are what you eat! An old saying that that rings so true!
I joined SP in 2013 and was sidelined by a couple of illnesses -- then came back November 2015 and have been spinning the log in wheel every day since!

I use "constructive brainwashing" to help kick-start healthy habits -- some of the best I've found are on Youtube -- I recommend "Sugar: The bitter truth," by Dr. Lustig and "Why we get fat" by Gary Taubes -- these two videos really opened my eyes about sugar and how the resultant spike in insulin affects our bodies and fat storage.

August 2015 - gave up alcohol (was beer for me!)
November 2015 - started food tracking on SP
January 2016 - gave up added sugars, refined carbs, and processed foods
March 2016 - went HFLC (high fat low carbs) and started weighing daily on newly purchased digital scale
September 2016 - reached my goal weight ~125
April 2017 - changed from daily to weekly (7-10 days) weigh-ins
June 2017 - maintaining ~125 pound range - continue daily nutrition tracking on SP
September 2017 - back to daily weigh-ins

Most important for me is tracking food intake - losing twenty pounds (March - September 2016) -- about three pounds a month.
The real trick for me was eliminating foods from my pantry that would start binges, such as candy, cookies, cake, pies, and chips -- just can't stop once I start.

A healthy lifestyle is what motivates me. Ask: "if not me, who? if not now, when?"

Thank you for reading my blog about my dress code rebellion.
It’s hard to imagine now how many obstacles, great and small, that women faced and how we once just accepted it as “the way things were.”

Thank you for the bloglove, honey - and of course, the congratulations about the new grandson. Not that I did any work for that - but yeah - something to celebrate.

I am amazed it took me so long to realize that snacking was really bad for me. It really isn't as if I don't get hungry between meals - it's that I SELDOM - VERY seldom get hungry between meals. Most of the time I snack because I'm just Not Full - and there's something in front of me. But I ALWAYS eat my meals. so I was just encouraging me to eat when I was not hungry. And that's what not only was making me gain weight, but not feel all that great.

I mean - for goodness sake! why did it take me so long? Well - better late than never, eh?
