We had some unexpected rain so work did not begin today. It's has been delayed until Monday. Oh, well, I guess I will survive emoticon

Thank you for your perspective on a problem very much in need of a solution
I always wondered how a customer in line could tell that purchases were being paid with an EBT card. It’s not like the old days when there were actual stamps. Your vantage point as a cashier makes sense.

I know that some young people who live in well off families, but don’t have much actual “reportable” income of their own are able to qualify for all kinds of aid. Abuses of the system hurt those who really need help. Whenever there’s a report of some health care provider submitting false bills to Medicare or Medicaid, there’s a outcry to cut both programs. Is it that hard to catch and punish the abusers without hurting the needy?

My big concern through my charity work has been the number of people in poverty who smoke. The effect on their health and family finances is appalling. However, I do understand the addiction since I could never get my own father to quit.

Thank you for taking the time to write.
My original blog was about the 2 different approaches being tried.

Time will tell if either of these work.

I really do not like the Whole Foods focus on people who make more money and are better educated. I like what they offer but have this "thing" about food being accessible to all incomes. I am very well educated and have more than adequate income, so it's not a matter of not being able to afford it or being well-educated enough to know what is good for me.
