EATING CLEAN IN 2014!
Once upon a time I was really fat and I lost 90 pounds and wasn't fat at all. Over time, I regained what I had lost and forgot that I had the ability to lose a full grown male Rottweiler in weight. I know I can do it, but I need help, and now I'm taking on a challenge to get rid of my 100pound albatross -- I have also recently been diagnosed with "pre-diabetes" and PCOS. Losing this weight once and for all would benefit my health AND put me into some smaller pants. My top weight was 268 and ...

I know I can do it, but I need help, and now I'm taking on a challenge to get rid of my 100pound albatross -- I have also recently been diagnosed with "pre-diabetes" and PCOS. Losing this weight once and for all would benefit my health AND put me into some smaller pants. My top weight was 268 and I've slowly lost 22 pounds over the last two years, so I'm starting this journey at 246 and crankin' up the gas.
I am also trying to rediscover my inner athlete/dancer and bring her out.
My husband is a runner and is training to do multiple half marathons in the coming year. One of my friends from high school ran her first marathon at 43. I am refusing to let my past missteps and failures predict my future. It's ONE DAY AT A TIME. For today, I am promising myself to do my best.

My Goals:
To do two rounds of the Firm Believers 2014 Power of 10 Challenge
Get 8 hours of sleep - which means going to bed earlier so I can get up early to work out in the morning.
To take the running outside
To plan my family's meals for the week and to spend a few hours on the weekend grilling/baking stuff in advance so we can "grab 'n go" if necessary.
To truly eat 5-7 servings of fruit and vegetables a day
To stay within my calorie range for at least 6 days a week.
To lose 8-10 lbs a month.
LONG TERM GOALS
I want to lose 100 pounds.
I want to run a 5K
I want to get my blood sugar to a normal level of 70-100
My Program:
I'm following guidelines as set in "The Insulin Resistant Diet" and focusing on Low Glycemic Index foods, and "Clean Eating" by Tosca Reno - fresh, unprocessed whole foods and no refined flour and sugar! I've recently found out that I have IBS so will also be avoiding wheat/gluten to avoid dealing with the symptoms of IBS.
I'm weighing and measuring my food so I can accurately track it.
I'm alternating Couch to 5K training with The FIRM DVDs, and yoga with a goal of exercise 6 days a week (7 if I feel like it).
I have done bellydancing in the past will sign up for some bellydancing classes as a reward for getting to a certain poundage.
Personal Information:
My name is Laura, also known as Laura Bora from Bufadora. I live in New Milford, CT.
I am a musician with a day job and I live with my juggling unicyclist musician husband and our two musician boys. We're kind of like the Partridge Family except we're more likely to play Black Sabbath covers.
I make jewelry, like to crochet, read, go to estate sales and hunt for treasure at flea markets. I'm obsessed with vintage kitchenware and lighting. I also love to travel and take spontaneous road trips. One of the things I am hoping to do in 2014 is take a silver-smithing 101 class, beginner tap dancing classes and learn to ride a motorcycle and maybe play cello if I can find a cheap one.
