Thank you for stopping by my page and thank you for the goody. I am very blessed that I am much more mobile than I use to be. I do not need a wheelchair unless I want to go someone in the heat (which I don't) or need to walk more than 1/2 mile to 1 mile depends on the day. But I also have many falls. I use a walker for Waling Away the Pounds dvd's I mostly on hold on during leg lifts and kicks. I also use my Wii which is my biggest motivator. Everyday is different. 90% of the time I am so enthusiastic about exercise. I know its keeping me mobile, helps me improve thus far, and its keeping me healthy. But some days I have to force myself to exercise its like pulling teeth. The frustrating part for me is just because my body will do something today does not mean I have the ability tomorrow. I could do push ups last week today I could not do one. I hate strength training all of a sudden. I loved it when I first started. I have a 7 year old nephew that really wants me to lose weight. I think he's afraid I'm going to die. Every forbidden treat is because of him, every workout forced or otherwise is because of him. He has changed my life for the better in many ways. He is new to our family (and his younger sister) they are foster children that my sister and her husband are adopting. They're are chair exercises too. Kathy Jo does that and water exercise. Boxing is my favorite! One day at a time thats all we can do.

I hope that we can be friends here on sparkpeople. I have a similar situation and I don't know about you but it always seems to be a little easier if you have someone working towards the same goal as you are.
I have been a paraplegic since 1973. My arms and shoulders are in a state of spasms and pain. (I've lived w/chronic pain since 1985). The last 2 years I have been virtuallly inactive and have gained about 30lbs. (I was already 30lbs. heavier than I should have been). Dr.s and physical therapists keep pushing that I get into an electric wheelchair. (I am not set up for that vehicle wise and financially wise). I have a lot of abstacles.....but I really want to get healthier and lighter if I can. (Just like you it comes down to the transfer thing-wether doing it myself or someone helping me). So friend, can we work on this togeather? I sure hope so! -Lynne

It's the last day of July ...a good time to reflect upon your goals for August! Things to consider may be...

How many fitness minutes do you want to try to achieve?
How many pounds would you reasonably like to lose?
What new activities would you like to try?
What has been working for you that you would like to continue?
What hasn't been working and should be changed?

Not everyone likes to set goals, but it is a valuable tool to use on this journey. Goals help to provide focus and a vision for what we want to accomplish. Even if we fail to meet our goals, the experience provides valuable feedback --- What went wrong? What behavior do we need to change to attain what we set out to do?

Take a few minutes ... challenge yourself with some goals for August!

... Looking forward to success in August! Keep on keepin' on!!
