Active Grandma going to gym on regular basis for years. I challenged myself in my 60th year (9 years ago) to see if I could run/walk a full marathon which I did along with 2 half marathons AND 2 sprint triathlons. That was an exciting year! Then, it all came crashing down around my heels when my knee went out. Had knee replacement surgery July 2015. Recovery went very well and now am walking average 5 miles a day pain free!

Spring 2018..... .4% gain...major lifestyle change 2 months ago
Took a break from 5% challenge during our move out of state, got settled into senior living where I am NOT in control of meals. Am now paying for it with the pounds creeping back on!! Am ready to get back to being accountable to others.
Am a full time caregiver for husband with MS. Important for me to stay fit and strong.....mentally and physically. My running days are over so am now looking forward to a new life and challenge of speed walking.
UPDATE: February, 2017 after 18 months recuperation from TKR I walked my first timed 5K setting a new personal best time. Two weeks later I entered my 2nd 5K and set another PB time.
UPDATE: June, 2018 made major life change (2 months ago) with a move out-of-state into Independent living with 3 meals provided each day. Not in control of my own cooking. Feels like I am eating more.....too many desserts. End of 8 weeks here.....3.5 lb gain.....on the verge of leaving "normal" BMI back into "overweight" range. Must put on the brakes and gain control
UPDATE: January, 2019 9 months of meals being provided and 10 lbs have crept back ......OH, MY!! This is NOT good. Starting 5% weight loss challenge to get control back.
UPDATE: June, 2020 Have gained back half my weight loss! Not in control of my food preparation where we live. My walking has been inconsistent. Been in Coronavirus lockdown for 3 months. Stressful times. Must get back on track and into 5% challenge and COMMIT to it!
UPDATE: Sept, 2020 Did better with my 5% Summer challenge although missed my goal but was in better mind set. A work in progress. Still under lockdown with no group socialization. Stressful and lonely.
