I am laughing at myself as I write this because as the new year begins, I continue to say that I have had too much fun - this time over the holidays- and have added several pounds back on my body! Obviously, I equate fun with food and I really need to do something about that! I know that I can do that and I can take responsibility for what caused the gain. At this stage of my life, I don't feel the urgency to beat myself up over this, but I must learn that I can have fun without overeating. ...

At this stage of my life, I don't feel the urgency to beat myself up over this, but I must learn that I can have fun without overeating.
I started working with Spark several years ago but fell off the wagon when my knees simply gave out on me. After double knee replacement and a year of physical therapy, I was ready to tackle my weight issues again. Thus, you see, my history shows that I am willing to work to lose weight but, at a certain point, or for almost any reason, I am also willing to just live my life with all my bad habits!
So, I roller coaster along and wonder if this is really a bad way of living. I used to be so down on myself for this but have recently begun seeing that life should be a series of changes, and, that disliking myself does more damage than the weight can. Now, I choose to be happy, have fun, allow myself time to work on my weight as well as time to let myself go.

My Goals:
5% Challenge Goals
1. Eat more protein, cook whole foods, and eliminate snacks.
2. Begin all workouts with stretching.
3. Walk as much every day as possible.
4. Three days a week of strength training.
5. At least 45 minutes daily on nu-step machine.
My Program:
I have decided to stop dieting. I seem to have found a routine that fits my body and as long as I stick to it and exercise I can lose weight. The problem is always allowing sugar into my diet, so, when that happens and I balloon as I did over the holiday, I must go back to my metabolic diet to get my system back into metabolic mode.
Personal Information:
I am now retired! My professional career was mostly involved with training, consulting, and educating and I retired as an adjunct professor. I am a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. I live in Indiana, and love to travel the world. I have worked hard all my life and now am taking the time to slow things down and enjoy myself!
Other Information:
Aging is for the birds! I refuse to age gracefully! I intend to go kicking and screaming!
