Sparktastic Summer Slimdown!
I just read this and thought it was something I need to remind myself of when the scale make a slight jump or turn in the wrong direction:
Remember that your weight isn’t a single number but a five-pound range. Work to move the range down, not the exact number.
My Spark Journey
It's taken me a while to get here but... I'M BACK
And I'm ready to make changes.
I think I am finally mentally ready to tackle this weight ...

My Spark Journey
It's taken me a while to get here but... I'M BACK
And I'm ready to make changes.
I think I am finally mentally ready to tackle this weight loss challenge again.
I CAN DO THIS!
In 2011, I joined Sparkpeople for the first time and lost 50+ pounds. I looked good and felt good and it wasn't just because of my weight loss. I had accomplished something I set out to do, something I didn't think I could do. Maybe 20 pounds or so but not 50 or more. I had tried other diets, some that worked for a while and some that failed quickly, but none that I could stick with for the long run. It wasn't always the diets fault though, it was me. I would find myself getting bored. Sure, if you only have a few pounds or so to lose bordem probably wouldn't set in. However, when you have 50 plus pounds to lose there is always going to be something that slows you down or sets you off course along the longer road. With Spark I never got bored, sure there were bumps and plateaus along the way but there was always something to read, a group or challenge to join, and even someone to talk to if I really needed to.
Fast forward to now.
Six years after losing the weight and I am back to where I started, actually I'm a little worse. I gained back the 50 plus I lost and then some. I was enjoying life, eating whatever I wanted and exercising less and then even less and then not at all. I became sedentary and even a little depressed. My oldest two daughters moved out and went away to college. My youngest graduated high school, where I was very involved, and is attending a local college. I am practically an empty nester and I have nothing to do. I don't really have any hobbies or special interests that I can think of. Okay, maybe shopping, but if that is what I did as my hobby then I will surely find myself broke and still overweight. Also, my husband recently retired, which should be a plus, someone to do something with, but, his favorite thing to do is to sit on the couch and watch movies and TV. :0
So I decided to do something.
Even though Spark worked for me in the past, I researched other diets. I tried the new WW, it worked, but at the end of my paid three months, even though I lost weight, I cancelled my online plan. Why? It just felt like I had so far to go and I found myself bored with the site. It didn't offer what I had on Spark. YET....I still hesitated to rejoin Spark and went back to eating and doing nothing and yes I gained back what I lost.
Soooo what to do now....
I still was hesitant about coming back to Spakpeople, I think it was fear of failing, it worked before but can I make it work again. Well I'm here and I am doing everything I can to prove to myself that I CAN DO THIS again!
