Hi! I was on SparkPeople.com about 9 years ago, but became a little discouraged and very sidetracked. 6 1/2 years ago, when my doctor advised me that my heart attack risk was high, I decided, "That's it." It's time to do something now." At first, I tried to do it on my own but felt I needed the accountability of tracking my food and exercise to ensure I was doing enough. Since then, it has taken off. I have two friends (a married couple) who "reintroduced" me to SparkPeople.com and gave me some pointers on how to use it. It's going very well now. I have been "at goal" for 3 years now. Unfortunately, I did inherit my dad's heart problems, and I will be having heart surgery in two weeks. Since I lost so much weight, that prevented me from having blocked arteries. I'm happy to say I don't need bypasses. I'm having the aortic valve replaced. The surgery won't be as invasive as it might have been otherwise. It was discouraging, at first, to find out I still have heart problems, but they are genetic and not the result of my previous unhealthy lifestyle of eating and being so sedentary.

Thanks everyone. I am tired tonight after a full day of work and then going to my 2nd part-time job on top of that. I was on my feet long enough I counted that for exercise today. Surprisingly, standing burns more calories than we might think. Add to that, I do some light walking for part of that standing time. So, I don't feel too guilty abut not getting on the exercise bike tonight. I stayed within my program (most of it, at least), and we even ordered out. My husband starts a new (2nd) job tomorrow. Please pray for us as I'm used to having him at home more, but the extra income and insurance will be a blessing. It will allow me to cut back on the hours I'm putting in, somewhat. It's going to be a big adjustment for all of us. emoticon

Hi! emoticon My name is Ginger Agosto. I am one of your team leaders for Hopeful Hearts Breaking Free From Hurts. Specifically for the team challenges! Super excited to help you ladies (and gentlemen who may be joining us) get up and going, to also be accountable for things. I myself have a problem with accountability. So this is a great thing for me as well. I am very open to many things, so if you have any questions, problems, concerns let me know! I will try the best way I can to inspire you ladies to get to where you need to be. Let’s learn from each other!

I am SO glad that you have joined the Hopeful Hearts Breaking Free From Hurts team. Please visit the Introduction Forum to learn about your leaders. Then, click on the thread to tell us about yourself. I look forward to getting to know you better and encouraging you as we continue our journey to become who He would have us to be. This team has started Care Groups. We think that it is so important for each member to be in close contact with a leader and each other. I'll email you and your leader so that you'll know which team you're on. If you have any questions, concerns, prayer requests, or praises that you'd like to share, please feel free to share them. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.
