Introduction Text I am a 43 year old single mom of 2 sons at home. I have fought and won many battles in my life. Recently found I have a new battle to fight Diabetes. I hope with work and determination and Faith I can become healthier. I know though that with work I can deal with this dragon just as I have fought all the others i have had to fight. I would love to meet others who are in my area or who are fighting the same issues as i or those here to get healthy

My goals right now are to manage my blood sugar. I also need to learn how to shop on a budget so that I am doing so healthier. I also hope to continue to lose weight. I hope to learn healthier eating habits and to pass that knowledge to my boys so they can get healthier as well as lose weight along with me. I am sure there are more but that is my start.

I have removed things from the house that are sugar filled and unhealthy. I have bought more veggies and low carbed low sugar foods. I have stocked up on water and less sodas. I have talked to my boys about the issues I am facing and discussed their sharing this new healthier way of eating and living. They are showing that they are interested. That in it self is a good start with them showing interest. I am on a limited carb diet. I have 25 carbs for each meal and 15 for snacks. So far this is working out. I have managed to cut my late night snack and it has helped.

I live in Maryland. I would love to meet others who live here Meeting people who live in Frederick MD would be really great. A saying that gets me through life I made up years ago. I am disabled and also am living with Hepatitis C. Both of those were acquired due to a beating by my ex many years ago. I am active in support groups for people living in abusive or fighting to get out or who have got out of abusive situations. I am happy to say that I am still smoke free. i quit 1/15/2008 I never thought I would be able to stop smoking. I love that I no longer smell of smoke. I am happy to say I actually have continued to lose weight while giving up the smoking. My one firm belief is that anything is possible if we apply ourselves and pray and have faith. I am spiritual and Christian. I am not a person who shoves my beliefs onto others. I believe we learn and should be accepting of people and their beliefs even when they are very different from our own.
