That's our family project you might say. Sisters, nieces, and even my sons all raising money and participating in the Avon Walks. We're heading to Charlotte in October and I'm hoping to be in great shape as it's 39.3 miles in 2 days and walking that's a long long time for walking.
Kudos on the marathon. I know I could never run that kind of distance ... I can't even run 1/4 of a mile with this back but that's fine I'll just plug along walking.

I saw your statement about your Dad - which "L" did he have?
My Mom had Leukemia for 12 years. She had 2 bone marrow transplants at UCLA - flew across the country on 2 separate occassions. This is an excruciating process where they kill all your blood cells but try not to kill you in the process. Then they give you new bone marrow generates new blood.
When she wasn't in the hospital, she had many good years sailing and RVing with my Dad. He retired when she got sick and they got to spend a lot of time doing things they always wanted to do. He is glad he had the chance to do that.
The 5K was brilliant!!! I managed to do it in 34 minutes, which i was really pleased with as most of the route was ankle deep mud!!! I was covered in mud by the end of it but it all added to the fun!! I can't believe how nerous i felt before the race, the feeling after was amazing though. I want to work towards a 10K now, i feel like anything can be possible if i work hard enough, who knows one day i maybe able to run a marathon just like you did
