I am Professor Jackie and excited to be here. I am looking forward to getting to know others and becoming part of a community.

2 years ago, I was on a journey were I lost 55 lbs over the course of 12 months. The weight loss had slowed to a trickle despite all my efforts. I was using myfitness pal but never really became part of the community so I hit a wall!

I bet most of you can guess what happened. I was always hungry and not losing weight so I stopped working. So now I have gained almost 22 pounds back and am trying to get back on track and off this roller coaster. I am over 55 and this is not a new cycle. I have lost and gained my entire body weight at least two times across the course of my life. I have been heavy since I was a kid!

6 months ago we had a new member join our family as my first grandchild was born. He is awesome! He is one of the reasons I am trying to get back on track. I was feeling better had lost several sizes in clothes and was able to walk a 5K without a problem. I even got off my cholesterol medicine. I want to be healthy so I can be an active participant in his growing up.

My Goals:
To lose 71 lbs and get into good enough shape to do a 5K a month.

My Program:
When I was on the losing track and lost 55 lbs. I was doing a low carb diet. I eliminated sugars unless they were high fiber such as fruits. My goal was to have net carbs less than 75 carbs daily. I think this time I need to figure out a plan that put me going in the right direction and is something I can make a life style. Still researching to see what works.

Personal Information:
I teach accounting in higher education. I was a practicing accountant for many year. I was blessed to be able to teach part time and quickly found that I love teaching. There is nothing in the world like seeing a students eyes light up when they finally understand the concept that was eluding them. Watching students proceed on their journey to becoming young professionals is what motivates me to get up in the morning.

I have a very supportive husband who has been around for over 40 years and a beautiful daughter, a wonderful son-in-law, and a handsome grandson. I am truly blessed!

Welcome to sparkpeople so glad you have joined us.

I just went to your sparkpage but see you have not put anything about yourself on it. Consider putting up something along the line what you have shared here on it - that way when we come to say hi we can read how you are doing.

Also remember to participate as often as possible on all the groups you have joined as that is where motivation and encouragement will come from
