Hi!!! Welcome to my SparkPage! I am so excited about the tools that this community makes available to support our health and weight loss goals. I have a goal to lose 50 pounds in 2011, to get my weight under control, and to prepare my body for the children God promised me. I am activating my faith by doing this and sharing my journey here.

I have signed up to run the Rock and Roll 1/2 marathon in Chicago this August. I have had a track record of starting and stopping my exercise and healthy eating initiatives when life happens (as it always does!). I am re-committing anew, and will post my journey as I prepare for and complete this 1/2 marathon. I also will continue to track after I have met this goal. I am excited and a little intimidated by this challenge. I am encouraged that I have the support of my husband and my church running club to help my training process. Looking forward to developing discipline and persistence through this. Thanks for stopping by my page!!!

Fitness Minutes: 3,490

My Goals:
- plan & track what I eat

- exercise for 30 minutes at

least five times per week

- drink 1/2 my weight in oz. of water daily (right now, that's 92 oz.)

- eat more vegetables

- eat more whole grains

- reduce my stress

- get at least 8 hours of sleep

My Program:
I stopped drinking coffee and drink herbal tea. I drink more water, plan on getting massages for stress relief, and have begun to track what I eat. I use SP to learn more about my health, to help me receive support for my goals, and to support others in their goals.

Personal Information:
I am originally from Philadelphia, PA, but I now live in Illinois. I am married; we just celebrated our 4th anniversary in February. We do not yet have children.

Other Information:
I have been told that preparing for a marathon is more mental than physical. I am renewing my mind as the apostle Paul suggests in Romans 12:2 by standing on the following verses:

Hebrews 12:11 (NIV) No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Matthew 11:12 (AMP) And from the days of John the Baptist until the present time, the kingdom of heaven has endured violent assault, and violent men seize it by force [as a precious prize--a share in the heavenly kingdom is sought with most ardent zeal and intense exertion].
