Introduction Text Hi, I'm Lynnette. I'm glad to be alive today. Last year at this time I thought life was over. I weighed 261 pounds and couldn't move without losing my breath. I slept most of the time because of sheer exhaustion. I secretly feared it was my heart, but I was too afraid to face it to hear the verdict from a doctor. That fear kept me from trying to exercise because I was sure it would kill me. I believed death was right around the corner. And then, in June I collapsed and ended up in the hospital. I found out nothing was wrong with my heart but I had Type 2 diabetes--a lifestyle disease that I could turn around. I didn't think at my age (60) I could lose weight, so I concentrated instead on getting my blood sugar levels down. My sugar level was at 537. My blood sugar started coming down and much to my surprise the weight started coming off as well. Today, at 61, I've lost 69 pounds, brought my blood sugar down within normal range and am totally off of diabetes medications. I've also be able to get rid of a few of my blood pressure meds and hopefully soon I will be off my cholesterol meds. I exercise daily and found my food choices are tastier and more satisfying than the junk I used to eat. I still have about 50 pounds to lose, but I am confident that I will continue losing. This has not be a diet for me, but a total lifestyle change, and I'm loving it.
