Beth Donovan's No Weight Loss Surgery, No Crazy Diets, No Extreme Exercise... Story of Making Healthy Happen! Pounds lost: 200 plus and counting... If you are reading this thinking YOU can't lose weight and get healthy because you're disabled or so far gone and hopeless, this is for YOU! I used to weigh 460 pounds and felt hopeless, like I had no more dreams. I weigh half of that now. I could no longer walk and was bedridden in a room with a tv for longer than I can remember. Diet after diet left me bigger and bigger with less hope as I failed each time and regained even more than I lost. My disabilities of having degenerative disease, herniated disks, pinched nerve bundles, slipped disks, knees needing replaced, and fibromyalgia made me miserable and made it very daunting to exercise or even move. It literally took me years to take off over 200lbs, and even more to maintain and keep going. I learned that diets are temporary and therefore yield temporary results. So, I started creating a new program for myself, step by step with the help of God. What I did was more of a mental makeover than a diet, because I realized that I’m an emotional eater and given to binge eating. In the past, I used every excuse in the book to just keep eating and ignore the truth. I told myself: My metabolism is broken. I am disabled. My thyroid is low. I’m in menopause. I’m too old. The truth came to me slowly that if I focused on prayer, positive self talk and what I could do rather than what I could not do, things would take shape. I could change my destiny. I did change my destiny. Instead of just existing in bed, I am now a certified professional life/ health coach and I help people. I’m much happier and have found purpose.
