100 Days of Weight Loss - Day 12 "Food or filler"

Take a close look at the foods you eat most. Are you getting fuel, or just filling your tank?

Quality fuel provides nutritional value. Fillers don't as they provide empty calories and drain your energy.

Even with healthy foods, be careful of content. A bakery muffin has as much fat & sugar as a cupcake. When you pour on extra dressing on your salad, you're diluting the energy.

Never assume you can get healthy foods at a moments notice. Plan your fuel. Plan, pack, and carry it with you.


Record your food today and rate the fuel it provides.

At the end of the day, determine how well your fuel needs were met.

Decide whether you need to replace some items for extra fuel.
So far today had my cheerios and applesauce. This is definite fuel. I know right now what my main filler will be-BEER! I have cut out fast food which was my previous filler. I will occasionally go out with the hubby and have pasta or hibachi (love it but hate the sodium!). We will sometimes get a pizza or cheese steak at home. I'm able to only eat half the cheese steak or 2 pieces of pizza at the most but will have my veggies that I was planning on eating as well. I've decided to get even more water in on the days of eating something like at the hibachi place or the beer which seems to help me stay on focus. I'm also eating my dinner before I will end up at the local hangout with the hubby to stop myself from eating something crappy.

    Hi there! I thought this post was really interesting. I like how you are thinking about how to make changes in your eating habits while not depriving yourself of things like the occasional beer! Sometimes I get to where I don't want to eat because I feel like it interferes with my plan when instead I should enjoy those experiences but make choices of foods that are fuel instead of fillers!

    I no longer look at the quantity of calories consumed. I look at the quality of food I have eaten. I eat in moderation.
    I did like this though. It is food for thought.
