Learning to Love the Treadmill

Thursday, January 08, 2009

I admit.. I use to be so envious of those of you who can burn it up on the treadmill - 5 and 6 mph for what seemed like an eternity, while I walked a brisk 4.0 mph. So fast forward 5 months and I'm finally hanging in there. WOW- The best part is I actually love it now. I look forward to it. Nothing more stress relieving than a good run. The feeling of accomplishment can't be replaced. My old excuse favorite... "Its too cold out I'll freeze when I leave the gym" has been replaced with a big coat, hat and gloves. This powerful machine is helping me to slim down tremendously. If I can encourage anyone by this.. I use to do 20 min at 4.0 mph, it took a long time for me move away from wanting to jump off because of that uncomfortable I'm out of breath feeling. Push yourself farther than what your body is comfortable with.. this is when you see results. I absolutely with a doubt can actually say that I'm In Love!

I feel you on pushing yourself harder...its not easy to do that once you get in your comfort zone. I felt the exact same way about the elliptical. I could only stay on for maybe 5 or 10 minutes at first but now I'm on it for like 45mins!! ....Anyway I saw your pics and noticed that you had the same problem that I'm facing now..How did u get rid of that back fat?!! You look great i cant wait til my back looks like that....

    Keep up the good work!!

Hello, I came across your page and wanted to comment on your blog. I use to the feel the same way years ago. But now I can run a 10k in less than 60 mins on the treadmill. :) It definitely help me shed alot of weight. However, my body got used to the running so I had to change my workout a lil bit. I only run a few days per week down but I have added spinning which is a MONSTER!!! Congrats on your success so far...

I have learned to love the treadmill too, among other machines and activities. What helped me on the TM was music, music, music. It seems so much easier and shorter with some good tunes!

    Sounds like your doing great!
