My New Scale

Friday, August 21, 2009

I am so happy to have a new scale!! I bought it last night. I had to. My old scale didn't read above 268. I went to the doctor's a week ago, and he told me how much I weighed - a whopping 282.8! They kindly rounded it down to 282. The next day, I woke up determined to lose the weight once and for all! I hopped on my scale. and it read 268. "Great," I thought, "I will use this amount because this will be the scale I am weighing myself on". I did really well, felt like I was losing weight, and after a couple of days I got back on my old scale and it hadn't budged. I decided to start adding things (including my 13 year old daughter) to see if it would go up. It didn't!

Last night I went to Wal*Mart and bought a new one. This one goes all the way up to 330. Hopefully no one in this house will ever need it to do that. When I got to the register with my scale and a gallon of Breyers chocolate ice cream, I laughed about the combination of items I was buying. I joked about all the magazines that have a brand new diet and a brand new way to make cake on the cover.

Anyway... I admitted to the cashier that I had really felt like I had recently gained about 20 more pounds, but the scale said I wasn't gaining anything! She burst out laughing! Little did I know that it just wasn't going up while I was.

As for the ice-cream... we had company and we made sundaes. I measured everything! I was proud of myself for doing that. It was still way too many calories and way too much fat, but I did not go over my allowed calories, fat, carbohydrates, and proteins.

I used 283 as my starting weight because 282.8 is closer to 283 than 282. That was a week ago. This morning I am now 3 pounds less!!!

This time I Know I can do it, and I will not stop until the weight is gone!

I bought organic fat free plain yogurt and add a little honey in it. I mix it and put it over lettuce, apples etc... It really helps my sweet tooth. (Stoney Field Farms) I trust them. I put this yogurt in my canned chicken for chicken salad and did not miss the Mayo! Doing these substitutions is really working and no corn syrup of any kind.

Luckily, Breyers ice cream isn't very rich, but its still full of sugar, so you still gotta be careful. Sugar tells your body to hang onto the weight. I can't even have ANY ice cream in the house, or I will nibble and take bites, and little by little, eat the whole thing!
Nowadays its only Pints, and its lowfat, and I make it last 2 days (still something I can't do very often).
Anyway, I like your attitude, and I know you can achieve your goals.
    You go!

LOL on adding your daughter to see what the scale read! I also love that you could joke about the ice cream and the scale! It sure is true about the magazine covers! You go, girl!
