October

Thursday, October 01, 2009

On my 10,000 steps a day group I was asked what I wanted to accomplish for October. I have been thinking about what that might be. I have even spent some time day dreaming. I decided I needed to think about the result but for my goals I just need to look at what action will get me there. If I do the activity then I am a success.

I am choosing to look at my goals this way for the month because sometimes I can do the right thing for days and not get the result. I can eat well for a week and not lose weight. I can exercise and sometimes it takes a while for my body to change shape.

So here are my commitments to myself for October:

I will eat whole grain foods, lean protein and lots of vegetables.
I will allow desert on Sunday. (I will only eat it if it is great!)
I will walk at least a mile before 7:00 am
I will exercise for after my dd gets on the bus for minimum of 30 min.
I will lift weights 3 days a week.
I will do Pilates or yoga 3 days a week.
I will include Pray, Journal writing and scriptures in my daily plan.
I will follow my decluttering plan.

Now I need a good reward for doing this plan...Maybe some really nice lotion or an hour or two escape to do something fun on a Saturday or some other day my older kids can babysit.

Have a great month everybody and make your goals happen. One day at a time is all we can change.
I will be diligent in working towards 10,000 steps.

I hope that by doing this I will lose at least 5 lbs. I don't know if I should state this. I want weight loss. But, at the same time I really want to focus on the actions for this month. I don't know what I want but, I have the list of activities written out so that I will do them daily for the month.

I am happy I managed to state everything in the positive.

I realized that I did not answer the correct question. I am good at that so I am editing this blog and adding the answers at the end:

1)What do you want to accomplish in October for YOU?
I to weigh less than 230.
I want to have a home that is in order.
I want to have fed myself spiritually daily.
I also want to have completed a creative project.

2)What challenges do you forsee that you will have to overcome in order to achieve these goals?
My biggest challenge is to actually work on the goals daily whether I want to or not. I want for the month of October to think of the goal and not if it is easy to do the activity that will get me to the result that I want. For example if I don't want to exercise I will say "that's nice "and do it anyway. I have already made the decision. I want to honor those choices!

3)What will you do to make success in these goals easier?
Preparation.
Each evening I will prepare for the next days goals. Each morning after breakfast I will plan for healthy foods for the rest of the day.

OK I have answered the questions asked of me. I think my biggest obstacle is thinking and deciding each day if I want it. Now for this month I will remind myself that I have already chosen!

I think it's terrific that you are setting positive goals. Sometimes the scale doesn't respond right away, but being consistent with these healthy choices will lead to success!

Even the "negatives" are actually positive when seen in the right light of truth.

    You did great!
