A kick in the pants

OK, I know better, but I'm letting this get to me.
I went out with one of my daughters last night - we had to go to Petco to get meds for her cat. My daughter (and her cat) moved out on her/their own last March and doesn't have a car - she can walk to work.
So we then went for a bite to eat - Chinese food. I ordered Eggplant and Shrimp, and shared it with her. I didn't overeat, drank water. I still wound up at the bottom of my range.
So I've gained a pound this morning - I know it's not real, but I'm letting it get to me.
When will I learn?
Tonight, I'm taking the youngest out for dinner and it will be something healthy. But I'm freaking out. My instinct is to want to cut way back on food intake, and I suspect I need to do the exact opposite and stay squarely in the middle of my range.
Aaaaaarghhhhhhhhh.........
Why are these last few pounds so blasted hard to get rid of?
One way or the other, I need a swift kick in the pants, that's for sure.
OK, enough of this inarticulate rant. Carry on!
