Update on Saturday & Sunday

Sunday, November 01, 2009

Saturday was basement day! Finally the day arrived that I had been planning for weeks. Gary was to be gone but decided to stay home-sigh! Well, I started early as usual-breakfast and light cleaning in the kitchen. I went for coffee to deliver some squash seeds to a dear friend who wants to plant sunshine squash next year. Then it was down to serious business. I carried the shefl posts downstairs and started rearranging the boxes to the middle of the room. Next, I emptied the shelves that were loaded with canned goods and boxed them up. Also placed in the middle of the room. I gave myself just enough room to wiggle and started
measuring and marking where the posts were going to be screwed into the wall. The bit I had for the power screwdriver wasn't the right one so I had to go to the lumber yard to get the right one. Also bought another hammer so I have one when I need it. After two hours, I was in need of a break. The posts were up and the shelves needed to be carried down.
Lunch time and back to work before Rachel brought William over for babysitting duty. I had
gotten 6 shelves in place, the put the little one down for his nap and left Grandpa in charge.
Another 2 1/2 hours later, I had 12 shelves up and all the boxes emptied that I had filled plus about 6 more! It looks great. Now to get the other 2/3 of the room done. A total of 4 1/2 hours
to get it this far.
As for trick-or-treaters, we are in a small town of 700 (I have my doubts). Our street has always been the popular so I am never surprised if we have lots of kids. Our worst year we had only 60, due to snow and cold. I do enjoy the activity but am glad to shut the front light
off at 8:30 and find something else to do. In this case, it was laundry and dishes.
Today, church, coffee, lunch, short nap and back to the basement to sift and sort what needs
to be thrown away. This wasn't enough to break a sweat but it will be nice to set out the garbage on Wednesday and know that I won't have to look at it again.
I semi-watched the Vikings/Packers game and will semi-watch the World Series. I think I
am enjoying the time change-for today, anyway!
Thanks to all who read and comment. Have a fantastic evening and a super Sparktacular
week!

Small town life has a lot of great things that you lose in biggr cities. Having lived in both I can say there are pros and cons to both.
I swear you stay so busy just reading about your days wears me out.LOL
    Hugs!

700!!!! Wow! No wonder I am going crazy with too many people. I think in just a very small radius near by street there are 700! Way too populated. Way too crazy, no matter how beautiful SD is. There is something to be said for sanity and smaller towns. You are a lucky duck.
