Verse of the Day
Tuesday, January 05, 2010
“wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight! Stop doing wrong, learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.”- Isaiah 1:16-17
These words from Isaiah were given to him by God. Washing and cleaning go beyond the outer surfaces, to include the more important inside. Jesus again makes this statement when asked about washing before eating, then explains to the Pharisees what he means.
A healthy life is more than simply loosing weight or building muscle. If all we do is change the outside appearance, we will never be able to maintain that appearance. That is why most weight loss programs fail. They teach us to the outside, but not the inside. When we can change what is in our hearts and minds that is when we find true success in the battle against an unhealthy lifestyle.
Inner change is a life style change, not a habit change. One must change their way of life to what they are doing, so they may be able to affect a permanent change that will continue beyond the goals they set. That inner change can be accomplished only when we can answer the question, "Why?" honestly. "Why am I doing this?"
