From my perspecive, the challenges kids face today as they begin their own lives are daunting. I am more concerned and anxious about this than my own fitness. But I know I canÕt help effectively if my own health is suffering.

Immediate issues here center on this as well as getting my 62 year old husband adjusted to a new job in a distant urban community. But the subject of knitting reaches beyond this industrial wasteland as is discussed here at Just Doing It Everyday.
On one of my drives back from Columbus recently I noticed a billboard directing the curious to ÒNorthwest OhioÕs Best Yarn Shop.Ó I found a humble building down a rural township road, furry creatures fenced in the front farmyard, a definite vast collection of yarns. I entered to a steady chatter of voice between customer and proprietor, and I eventually opened up about my lack of knitting skills despite my craving for the touch of soft yarns. ( I once imagined it a waste not to save my beloved dogÕs excess fur for yarns.) I even shared the story of a story about an army recruiter who suddenly abandoned a potential recruit once he pulled out his knitting projectÉ
The gem of this is how an individual can recognize her interest and build a world around it, as this woman did with her yarns and knitting.

Mirbah, I think of you as a textile artist, creating shawls. I envy this talent you have in common with the lady of the store. Dixie possesses a similar sense of self determination in inventing her future. Ferret, I wish I felt love as intensely as you; you shine! Thanks all!

i too, love yarns, and i discovered, that i can work with it, and not know anything more that how to knit perling or anything. and i still derive all sorts of satisfaction is 'finding' the perfect feel and color of yarn, and making something to fling around my coat.

    i haven't done this in a while.

there is a place in town...wonderful yarns AND coffee shop.
    how wonderful is that.

Thanks, Prerie. The thing that drew me to crochet wat the texture and the colors of the yarns. I could spend hours just touching and looking.
