Let's go out for dinner!

Thursday, April 08, 2010

Dining out for dinner has always been challenging for me. DH loves to eat at Olive Garden so you can imagine how excited I was to see nutrition information from Olive Garden in my HG news letter today. Of course I want to share this valuable info with my Spark Friends. Here's the skinny. You can have the Venetian Apricot Chicken ( a saucy chicken with veggies) for 380 calories (7 points). Pasta e Fagioli will cost 130 calories (2 points) and the minestrone 100 calories. If you want salad, order a side salad with low fat dressing on the side. Bread sticks are 150 calories each. Olive Garden, here I come. I think I will have the Pasta e Fagioli with a side salad and a bread stick, or will it be the Venetian Chicken with a side salad? What is your healthy restaurant favorites?

We were at an Olive Garden a few weeks ago ( that is also my DH's favorite place) and we found a healthy menu choice brochure by the front door while we were waiting to be seated. I brought one home with me for info next time we go there.

My favorite one there that I get when I go now is Venetian Apricot Chicken, so yummy! emoticon I know it is better to get the side salad but I love their salads at the tables. I usually get a small plate of the salad and 1/2 of the breadstick. I normally don't eat all my food and bring about half home with me with my other 1/2 of bread stick! Enjoy your dinner at the Olive Garden with your DH. Let us know which one you decided on.

Wow, I always end up at Subway! Which I love, but this sounds like something I could cajole my beloved into a time or two. Thanks! emoticon emoticon

Wish all restaurants would do this - it might not stop me ordering the wrong thing but I would at least know how many calories I'd had and could try and adjust my daily intake to compensate.

I try to always check the nutritional values of a menu before I go to a restaurant. Yeah to Olive Garden for posting them! There are many that don't publish them which can make it difficult to stay on track. Sounds like you've planned well-enjoy!! emoticon

Man that sounds good! Too bad there's no Olive Garden around here. Thanks for sharing with us though.
