I have just finally arrived back home. The incident took place one week ago (Sunday, April 18, 2010) at a roller skating rink. My DH had a very bad fall and broke his left hip; actually the femur about an inch or 1 1/2 inches below the femur. I was at home and received a call from him at the emergency room at the local hospital NINETY MINUTES from our home! The following is what I wrote to focus on the task at hand.

As I sit in my husband's hospital room, I am reflecting on my (our) blessings of which there are many. First I need to explain my DH's reason for being in hospital....He broke his hip roller skating. Actually he broke the left femur just below the femur ball but they still refer to it as a broken hip.
Now for the Blessings:
1) I was at home when the call came.
2) DH was able to place the call himself.
3) We had a friend to drive me the 90 minutes it took to get to the hospital.
4) The hospital was 2 miles from the roller rink.
5) My DH was alert and we talked so I have the necessary details.
6) We have good primary insurance and also secondary insurance if required.
7) My friend and I went to the roller rink to get DH's car. Friend then went home.
8) Friend taking care of Penny Dog until tomorrow when Penny Dog can be boarded.
9) Surgery is tomorrow.
10) DH is resting quietly.
11) "I am woman...I am strong"
I will report later on how it goes after surgery .
Please remember us in your prayers.
