My daughter shared with me a lesson she had learned, while trying to handle a tricky situation with my grandson ( a teenager). The lesson reminded me of a quote from Maya Angelou. " When I knew better, I done better.
Knowing better, for me is key to living a healthier lifestyle.
I read magazines, books and watch fitness related material on TV quite a bit. I do not always use all of the information from one book or program. I do, however find bits and pieces of information that I can use when the time is right. That is what makes my lifestyle healthier, having the resources there when I need them.
Three years ago I began a journey that has changed my life. I lost 60 pounds and although I have not reached my weight loss goal, I have not regained. I give credit to Judith Beck who told me "to sit down when I eat" and to Jillian Michaels who said "you can do this". Dr Oz told me to drink OJ with my oatmeal because the vitamin c binds with the bi-phenols in the oat meal to give cholesterol a double whammy. Spark People taught me that exercising for 10 minutes is better than not at all, and I learned that 10 minutes of exercise often leads to 20.
There is a lot of information about living a healthy lifestyle, I find it motivational as well as educational and the way I feel tells me I am doing better.
