Day 2 of a Week of Reckoning!

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

Hmmmmm ... I decided to make my day of reckoning a week of reckoning in an effort to reestablish my Personal Plan of the Week & Back to Basics ideology!

Sleep seems to be the biggest factor of blunder in my fitness plan. For some odd reason, and most likely because 20 years in the Navy instilled "little sleep" into my life, I would rather be awake that asleep.

Odd isn't it that when most people would rather be zonked out, snoring away, I would rather be laid out on the couch watching the telly or deep within the pages or a good book or doing something, anything rather than sleeping.

I am not really sure why this is ... but, I do know that sleep is important to any fitness plan. But, how do I fix it? Do I really need 8 hours of sleep? Reports say I do. But, when I sleep for longer than 4 hours, I wake up sluggish and achy whereas, when I sleep for 4 hours, I wake up rearing to go.

So ... the question today is: Sleep or not to sleep?

I am with Thumper. I think you listen to your body and it will tell you what you need to do. If it isn't leading to personality changes (the big B), feeling sluggish, overeating or other detriments, why not?

Every body is definitely different in regards to sleep. I require 8 but rarely get it. My DH requires 6 or feels like you do sluggish and lazy when he gets more then that. My problem is I hear everything so if I get my full 8 it's because I took a sleep aide; which I hate doing!

We all should sleep what our bodies tell us we need. If you can get by on 4 hours then go go go. Me I would turn into the big B by noon if 4 hours is all I got!!!
