A Little Bit of Bad is NOT Good

Friday, November 26, 2010

emoticonI had a wonderful day with my family yesterday for Thanksgiving. My Granddaughter is such a gracious hostess and her husband is a real gem. He is a true Southern boy and his family was there too and the food was incredible. (I have a picture of it on my sparkpage~~not showing the desserts)

My plan was to taste small amounts of what I really like, allow myself two small desserts, and eat turkey breast. AND I did this. Problem is that everything was loaded with "bad" carbs and fat and sugar. So this morning I am up two pounds.

My first instinct was, "Oh no, I still cannot control this food issue." But then I thought, YES!! I can! This is a new day, I am totally back on plan and will be doing my cardio walking for 40 minutes!!

A great lesson learned. And I feel so good to be able to immediately take control again. I am beating the food control devil. And that makes me feel emoticon

This picture of me, 86 pounds gone, is so much better than all that food. I lost a battle but I am winning the war BIG time!! emoticon

What delicious food and what a beautiful family you have...yourself included. You look AWESOME!!! You are doing a FANTASTIC job and one meal will not undo all your hard work. There was probably too much salt in something you are...that would account for a two pound water weight gain...just a temporary issue. Thanksgiving is over for another year but we give thanks every day!!! 86 pounds is winning the war...dinner is just a small squirmish in the grand scheme of things. Keep up the great work!!! You are beating the food control devil!!!
    Blessings, love and hugs,

I needed to read your post today. I didn't do very well on Thanksgiving or with leftovers so I'm reading posts to get my mind back on track. Thank you for helping me today.

A little bad is OK! You didn't throw in the towel and say "what the heck, it just isn't worth it..." You are in control. Life isn't just about weight loss.

Great blog Mona! A lot of the special foods we all fix for a holiday meal have a lot of salt in them, so your gain of 2 pounds may not last for long. Just push the water! I sent all the rich leftovers home with my daughter today. We kept plenty of turkey and some lean ham for sandwiches and soup. I ate more than I thought I would, but I know I didn't binge like I have in previous years. And, like you Mona, I can get right back on my program! You are doing well and you look great! :)

You did great on your eating. Just think about how much more you would have eaten in the past. You are so right about being able to get right back on track. That is the main thing, one bad day doesn't do us in for years. You are looking great in the picture. Keep up the good work.

What an attitude! That's the way we all should be. Don't beat yourself up over it. Just dust off your hiney and get going again!

Mona, you are AWESOME!!! Weight will fluctuate over time! As long as it goes in a downward average, you're doing great!

Isn't it amazing? You hit the nail on the head with this blog...This is the difference between yo-yo dieting and SparkPeople. Somehow, without SP, a tough eating day could lead to a week or month or more of being "off the wagon." Now, with the wonderful SP tools at our fingertips and all the great information we have learned plus the positive self-talk - eating "off" is just a blip on the screen.

We all have a day off and you got straight back to it. I am willing to bet that you have lost the 2lbs by Sunday, bet some of it is water retention from eating foods you aren't used to any more
You girls look great together, you have a wonderful family, now I am off to look at the food.... emoticon emoticon emoticon
