At first I was a little annoyed today when I weighed myself and didn't see a drop in the scale. I worked hard this week to do everything right and this means I won't make my New Years goal. Oh well. :) It is times like this where I need to sit back and evaluate where I am.

Ok, so I'm not making January's goal, but will I still make my ultimate goal of the year of losing 100lbs in a year? Probably. If not, it is still important to remind myself of my accomplishments and give myself an overall rating, a short term (last 2-3 months) rating, and a current ( last 1-2 weeks) rating. I tend to break my evaluations down into the following categories and sub-categories: Nutrition, which includes portion control, menu choices, and balance; And, Fitness, which includes consistency, balance between cardio and strength training, and effort.


Currently, I am doing great! I give myself a rating of 90%! I have worked out each day I was supposed to and have done really well with my calories. There are a couple small things I could do for improvement in both the areas of fitness and nutrition which resulted in a loss of 10%. I should really try to balance my calories in the day so I don’t go over at the end because I’m starving! And, I could push myself a bit more with the fitness in some areas and will increase the weights respectively. Am considering using the treadmill a couple times a week to increase my endurance even more, but I need to build to that. My food choices have been great and I have eaten nutritionally balanced meals.

The short term wasn’t so good. Difficulties with balance and motivation in both the areas of fitness and nutrition give me a rating of 65%. Boooo! However, despite this difficult time I have sought out resources and actively worked to build up the momentum again. The proactive effort to get back on track keeps me at over a passing grade. I new approach was needed and achieved (got myself a winter workout partner) and am now back on track and feeling good.

Overall, I give myself a rating of 80%. Why? Losing 100lbs in a year is quite a feat and deserves much props, but were their times where I could have done better? Were there times when I slacked too much? Of course there were! This is a learning process and I don’t expect myself to be perfect. All I can ask is that I do everything I can and take things one action at a time. There are always areas for improvement and giving yourself an evaluation is a great way to see where you can buck up. I went through a period of difficulty with working out and was put in a position where my nutrition wasn’t as great as I would like and I took the necessary steps to get through it and set myself straight again. On the whole I am always actively seeking ways to educate myself, keep myself motivated, and keep it all fun and fresh. I push myself and take care not to judge myself no matter the outcome. I have had a really great year and next year will be even better!!

    Sometimes we do not achieve our goals-- I too wanted to see 100 pounds lost but I gained over 7 last week so now I am not going to make it-- so I made it for Valentines day wither 100 gone or to see 399 which is an extra 10 gone-- all we can do is try~

    You can achieve whatever you out your mind to!
