An Ongoing History of my SparkPeople Journey

- After some scary news from my doctor, I got serious about losing weight in July of 2005 . My starting weight was 195. I was excited to find SparkPeople and read an article called 'Start a Small Streak', which motivated me to start a streak of using the foodtracker and exercising everyday, NO MATTER WHAT. During that streak of 109 days I lost 15 pounds and began to believe that doing this was really possible! By the end of the year, I had lost 24 pounds.
- In February, I reached my halfway mark and even went 7 pounds below it, reaching 158 - my lowest point in a couple decades! Loss for the year - 13 additional pounds for a total of 37 pounds!
started off great...I reached the one year anniversary of getting to my halfway point and my DH got me the puppy I've been wanting. Her name is Molly and she has been a joy! However, things took a turn for the worse when my lower back pain increased and it started radiating to my hip and right leg causing me to have to cut back on my exercise. We also took a 3 week trip to our hometown, the first in many years, which further seemed to set me back (all that good old home cooking), and then returned in time for the holidays which was the final blow to the year. End result: I gained back 23 of the 37 pounds I lost.
- I decided to stop the backslide - and I did, however, spent most of the year just hovering in the upper 170's. Total loss this year: 2 pounds, I know I can do better!
- A complete wipe-out - hit the 180's again and ended the year at 185...such a bummer!
- was quite a year including our first cruise, a two week trip to MN, a trip to TN and 3 sets of company between March and July. Needless to say, not much progress in the weight loss department! Ended the year at 182 - but, still down 13 pounds from my original weight.
- The first part of the year passed quickly and I found myself up to 187 by Memorial Day and was very discouraged. I determined to turn it around and started a new streak that I vowed to stay on until I reach my goal, no matter how long it takes. I took off that 5 pound gain and lost 7 more, ending the year at 175, 20 pounds below my original weight.
- Stay tuned to see what I can accomplish this year! Check out my Weight Loss Adventure blog to see what I'm currently doing to make this year a success! And, if you'd like to work with me on a daily basis - please join my sparkteam called 'Streak to Success'!
