It seems I'll survive the meal!

Lunch was still over 700 calories, but I started with a salad, dressing on the side (I used maybe a tablespoon), then ate about a quarter of my pasta. It was spinach fettucini with a spinach artichoke alfredo, with grilled chicken. Then I got a meatball on the side. I know that sounds funny, but these meatballs are the size of baseballs! I didn't even have half of that, and I scraped off the marinara, because its so salty. After lunch I ordered a single cannoli. Now, I normally love their cannolis. But apparently they changed their recipe. The ends were dipped in dark chocolate chips instead of them being on the inside with the ends dipped in pistachios. And the actual pastry was different too. Not the same dough at all. AND they overcooked the shell! So I had a bite with the shell and then just ate the cream out of it. I've logged it as half a cannoli. I'm sure the filling is worse than the shell, but I don't care, I'm logging it as half! lol

I still have plenty of calories left for dinner, and maybe even a snack if I get hungry later! All in all, I'm calling it a success. It floors me that all that was not even 800 calories. Before, i'd have had at least three slices of the bread and butter, then we'd get and order of bruschetta, that I'd eat most of, then the entree, and at least one meatball on the side, followed by 2 cannolis. Can you even imagine how much THAT was? How I didn't double over sick to my stomach, I have no idea. :P I'm proud of myself for the progress I've made.

I did one Spark People kickboxing video so far today and we're going walking again tonight. I've also done my strength training already today. Now I just need to get some cleaning done and some more cardio, and I should be good for the day. Maybe I'll see if she wants to go to the gym instead of walking outside. Then I can jog on the treadmill as much as I want. We'll see.

    Wow, big change on your regular meal intake verses this one!!! Great job for planning ahead, working out extra hard this week, and not over doing it when you had the chance! You ROCK!!!! Keep up the great job, you are just too awesome!!! Never had cannoli before, but sounds yum! Good job to get your workout in this weekend too! :)

    Bravo! It is a fine art, learning to eat out and not go overboard. Portions are so large, and the ingredients change so frequently from one visit to the next. You showed admirable self-restraint and judgement. You are - and should - be very proud of yourself. Well done!

    I feel your pain on Italian food - my Italian grandmother was an excellent cook and it's one of my favorite types of food. One thing I miss from home is cannoli made with pastry creme instead of ricotta creme, so cannoli's are easy for me to skip out here. I can't skip zabaglione or spumoni as easily.

    Good for you on your self control!
