Money, up in smoke!

We did a few fireworks tonight. We never have to spend much because of the neighbors. I don't know how they justify it, but every year, they spend over $1000 on fireworks. That's half the money I need for my treadmill!!! Are they nuts? Yes. The answer to that is yes. lol I did buy some sky lanterns though. They're so pretty. We let 6 go. I should have written my email address on them and asked whoever found them to email me and let me know where they came down. I'm pretty sure they made it to the next county. :D

We went down to the park for Sundown Salute today. It used to be such a nice little festival. Lots of shows, motocross, and a big carnival. Well, a few years ago, they decided to snub the local car dealership that sponsored it and went with a dealership from the next town over. And as a result, its steadily gone downhill since. It isn't even worth going down there anymore. I think next year we'll skip the park and take the kids to the movies or something.

I did get my funnel cake though! I took 5 or 6 small bites and the kids ate the rest.

I'm going to take some ibuprofen and go to bed. Have a great night!

    I wish I had enough money to feel like I could spend $1000 on fireworks. :) Of course, I'd probably still feel like it was a waste. I love watching fireworks, but it's a lot of money for the amount of entertainment you get from them. I am planning to go to Joplin, tonight, for their fireworks show. It is supposed to be twice as big as normal, because someone donated a bunch of fireworks for it.
    I hate when people forget about the local businesses thinking they'll get a better deal somewhere else. Now, you are having to suffer the consequences. I'm glad you were able to get your funnel cake, though. We have a fair, every year, in August, and I usually get a funnel cake to share with some friends. The thing I always have to get is a tropical sno, though. I especially love the peaches and cream flavor. I don't want to know how many calories are in it, though. I usually justify it by the hours I spend walking around in the heat.

    yep, 1,000 dollars on fireworks is just crazy! We spend like 20 or 30 a year, just enough to get some stuff for the kiddos to watch, lol! We didn't get any lanterns this year, but those are definitely beautiful! My first job ever I was 14 and worked at the fireworks stand! We always got free fireworks as our bonus! The harder you worked the more you got! My sister worked there too and one year we got 400.00 worth for free! Now that sounds like a better deal, Maybe Taylor can just work at the firework stand and then you wouldn't have to pay anything, lol! Hope you enjoy your 4th!!! :)

    We're on a fireworks ban in my county (drought conditions)...and it's not stopping the neighbors from lighting them up! Non stop from 8:30 to 12AM since Thursday! They too must have spent about $1000 on fireworks...on te quantity, if not the quality! I feel your pain...

    Sounds like fun. We have fireworks tonight at the park not terribly far from here. My family and I plan on walking up there. Its probably about a 2.5 mile trek. But the last year we actually went, it took us 2 hours to get out of the parking lot and get home. Thats when we said, we could have walked and got home quicker...LOL

    Hope you had fun, and aren't in an area that is saddled with drought. Wildfires in timberland started by fireworks is also "Money, up in smoke!" Be safe out there!

    My husband would be in heaven with a $1000 worth of fireworks to set off. Lol. It does seem like a waste of money. The only way I could justify it is if the fireworks were bought from a local group. My daughter swam competitively for 6 years and each year our team had a fireworks booth. The team got to keep 50% of the sales. Most years, we raised enough money to fund the team for the whole year keeping the costs down for the parents. Hopefully, 50% of the cost your neighbors paid went to a local sports team or group.
