Annual Family Picnic

I'm sitting here watching this week's The Closer episode and reflecting on my day on Sunday. My mother's extended family has a picnic every summer and a banquet in the fall. This is our way of staying in touch during the good times (not just during funerals.)

Despite the heat, it was great to catch up with the cousins and their families. There are over 200 of us in the immediate metropolitan area but only about 100 attended the picnic. I realize that my family may not be unique or special. However, I appreciate the fact that we can get together without any drama--just fun, games, music, and a bit of volleyball!!!
