Lamb-Centric Household

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

OK this blog is about Two Things:
1. Why my Husband calls me "the Lamb" & "Lambie"
2. What he (& I?) do about it

Back Story: Steven is born on August 19th, which makes him a Leo, or the astrological sign of the Lion. I, on the other hand, am born on April the 11th, which makes me born under the sign of the Ram, but since I'm female, I'm a Lamb, thus, "the Lamb" & "Lambie" et al. Steven's birth mother, his adopted mother, and his birth father's daughter (his half sister), are all Aries women. The two mothers, G-d rest their souls, have passed. The birth sister, Melissa, coincidentally, was born on EXACTLY my birthday-April the 11th! (although she's a few years younger than I).

Whenever Steven sees something that reminds him of his 'lambie' (wife), he gets it. Recently, he had lunch with his in-laws (my Mom & her 2nd hubby, Bob), in Waterbury at a Chinese restaurant. He saw a package of what he thought was a lamb kite (made in China, probably for kids). He bought it for me. When he was sleeping, the other night, I had my usual insomnia, and opened the package, and to my surprise, it wasn't just one lamb kite, it was many lamb kites threaded on a string, all waving happily! (and they all had little horns!). I hung it across the living room ceiling to surprise him when he woke up the next morning:

Just above, is Toffee, our shih-tzu baby whose favorite toy is a stuffed lamb. He pulled it out of his toy basket to play with it!

The other day, when I was at "Savers", I spied a small porcelain lamb figurine with a thimble built in the back for a pen or pencil. I snapped a photo of it and sent it to Steven. He said right away, "Buy it!" so I did:
The result: Pinky the lamb:

I missed this one! What a dear story! I think of many things when I think of Lamb, especially tenderness and unique beauty. What an appropriate name for YOU! Toffee is a real lamb in these photos too!!

Can you believe you would see that figurine at the store . . right at that time? So glad you were able to have it as yours!
