So excited by today's hike in the countryside!!!

Monday, August 15, 2011

Hello dear Sparkfriends!

Today was a day off in France. And the sun was shining! So I bet you already know what I did... Of course, I went hiking! I went back to the Vexin area (North-West of Paris), which is so convenient for me as it is only about 30-40 minutes to where I live.

The hike started outside a house in a village called Parnes... This gate had such an air of faded grandeur!

Pretty soon, I was in the middle of the countryside... Bliss...

As I approached a farm, I went above a stream...

The farm? Ah... My idea of a perfect farm! (Even the blue shutters! I love it!)

The wheat was harvested in the last few weeks and stored...

Isn't it a pretty cow?

Then the path went from fields to forests...

To fields...

Hehe, yes, another ladybird (for the English!) or ladybug (for the Americans!)!

But look, it was joined by a friend!!!

Looking at a village in the distance...

And then, an unexpected surprise! Beeshives!

It was quite noisy around there, with all the bees flying nearby. I didn't stay long!

I reached a small group of houses...

... and there were lovely flowers in a field nearby! I was so excited! I wonder if these aren't wild orchids? The flowers look very much like orchids, but not the leaves, so I am not sure. What do you think?
Edit: COOKWITHME65 found what they were, they are sweet peas!!!

Excited? Did I say excited?

I cannot even tell you how excited I was when I saw this creature appear!!!

I took LOTS of photos!!!

I promise, this is the last one! (On this one, I think it looks like it is made of plastic, doesn't it?)

I have to admit it: by then, my feet were starting to hurt... I was very happy when I saw this sign that said Parnes: 0.8km! Phew!

I walked towards the church...

And then I was back where I started!!! This was 2 hours and 40 minutes. Improvement! (During my first hike, 2 weeks ago, after 2 hours I couldn't walk anymore, my feet were so painful!) Woohoo!!!
