My short holiday in Switzerland - Part 1

Monday, August 22, 2011

Hello dear Sparkfriends!

It is great to be back on SP after this short holiday in Switzerland! Yet I must say I had a fantastic time! The weather was gorgeous - really sunny and very hot, almost too hot for the day of my friends' wedding in Vevey, on Friday.

So, my stay in Switzerland started with a walk by Lake Lemans (also called Lake Geneva) in Vevey and MONTREUX... Here was the view...

Sweet encounter with a swan and its (big) babies...

And here was the view on Montreux from the beach we went to...

I hadn't brought my swimming suit as I didn't realize it was possible to swim in the lake on a beach right in the middle of Montreux! My friend Geneviève had a swim and I was a bit jealous! :)

We almost didn't have enough time to get ready for the wedding in the afternoon as we enjoyed our time by the lake so much!!!

This is my friend Zoé's bouquet for her wedding! (all the decoration was white and blue)

And here she is with her husband, Marc-André, and the beautiful wedding cake...

Here is how I looked after a few hours into the wedding... a big smile but hair up and curly and no more shrug... just too hot!!!

The day after the wedding, I was off to NEUCHATEL, where I visited my friend Dolly. Neuchâtel is a lovely historical little town, which celebrates its 1,000th birthday this year (1,000!!!)! I found it very atmospheric! Like Montreux, it is built by a lake, although this one is called Lake Neuchâtel.

Here is the view on Neuchâtel's castle from Dolly's apartment...

Also taken from Dolly's apartment...

And this is just outside Dolly's building:

On Saturday evening, Dolly and I went for a long walk around Neuchâtel...

There were some boats on the lake...

and lovely flower arrangements near the haven:

Modern days graffiti in a tunnel...

Detail of the front of a shop in the old part of the city... (Don't you think it almost looks like a piece of jewelry? so pretty!)

Then we walked all the way up to the castle and the houses around it. I really enjoyed all the old houses there but it was hard work to get there as it was very hot and very steep!... A good workout in a beautiful place!

Here is the view on one of the town's towers and the lake, taken from the castle...

An old house's doorstep below...

Dolly and her warm smile (the tower behind is the old prison)...

I really liked the park outside the castle too, it was a bit wild and mysterious. The walls were amazing...

We ended the day in a crèperie in my favorite part of Neuchâtel... This was the building opposite the crèperie...

And here is the crèperie when it got dark...

Thank you all for reading! I hope you enjoyed this visit! :)

I'll write another blog tomorrow about the hike we did yesterday in the mountain above Neuchâtel's lake. It was a great time too!
