A few days ago, MINIUM wrote a lovely blog about 5 things she loved about her body and encouraged us to do the same: www.sparkpeople.com/mypa
(MINIUM had found the idea from JENNSWIMS, whose blog is also wonderful...
I had said when I read MINIUM's blog that I was going to do the same, but it took me all this time to find 5 things... And I only did when NEWMAY said earlier today that she was writing her list and I thought: “Right, now I have to finalize my list!"
here it is...
1. I love my smile.
This is the only thing I can say I love in my body without having to think about it! I like that my smile reaches my eyes and that when I am happy or having a good time, it SHOWS!!!
(I have decided this blog doesn't have to be all serious!!!)
2. I don’t look my age (it seems).
As I said earlier this week in my activity feed, a nurse asked me this week whether I wanted children, not realizing I am 42. It made my day, I was so happy for the whole day after that!
(OK, this photo was taken 3 years ago, but I always thought I looked younger than usual on this picture!)
3. I love my small feet!
I am 6 ft tall so I could have huge feet, but mine are a European size 40 (i.e. American size 8). I like that because somehow, it makes me feel more feminine! Ah... no photo of my feet, sorry!!!
4. I like my hair (no, this time I cannot write 'I love', it isn't true)... sometimes, even though it drives me mad. At times I hate that it is curly, but if I think carefully about it, I like that I can easily make it look very different, and that it looks good both cut short or long. I can say though that I love that there is lots of it!
5. I love that I have what we call in French 'une tête à chapeaux', i.e. I can wear all kinds of hats...
even though I rarely wear any!!!
Still, when I have the opportunity to, I know I’ll find one that suits me. This one was made for me by a dear English friend who makes the most gorgeous hats... I LOVE it!
And this one I tried on in South Korea last year... Noooooo I didn’t buy it! But it was fun! Old Korean ladies love these hats, so for a few seconds I felt like an old Korean lady! ;-)
Many thanks, dear MINIUM for encouraging us to reflect on what we love about our body... I liked thinking about this list. It helped me look at myself in a kinder light!
I would just like to add a few words... From a former little girl who has grown up to become a woman who still struggles with her appearance very much (working on that, but it is a llllong journey)... Dear Sparkfriends, tell your daughters they are beautiful! Tell them you love them and they are the prettiest girls on Earth! Later, they’ll grow to become women who are so much more confident about themselves and the way they look! It is such an important present to give to them, possibly one of the best!!!
Now, dear Sparkfriends, your turn... Please, what are 5 things you love about your body? :)
